As a young lad, my bed was often left empty before dawn. A small digital camera in hand and a mission to capture the first light of that day. My family and friends always on the hunt to find me. They usually still are.

It’s a strange realisation when your biggest obsession and fear mix together. Fear of missing out on life’s fleeting moments has only but brewed an endless obsession to catch them. I lie up at night worrying about what I might miss.

I call them the ‘inbetweens’. Moments of passing that often go unrecognised, yet contain endless beauty. I seem to use these moments as compasses to navigate my photographic journey.

At 21, in a very dark time of my life, I was gifted with a Pentax SLR from someone very dear to me. The practice and learnings of analog photography only seemed to further ignite my imagination and creative processes. To slow life down and embrace life’s perfect imperfect was a lesson I needed to learn for myself and for my work. I’m still learning.

I’m a lover of all things new and familiar. Another interesting contradiction. New places and people, new opportunities and risks. Yet coming home to the Sunshine Coast and familiar faces only seems to cement a deeper connection to my life experiences. One day you’ll find me on a moped in Bali’s Kintamani ranges or in my small Suzuki van Moby, lost on the south east roads. The next day you’ll find me watching ‘The Wedding Singer’ for the 200th time eating my second batch of Chai Chocolate almonds for that day. All moments of the inbetween.
